Irreversible Momentum

There is a feeling of irreversible momentum growing in the KI6 campaign.
Non-aboriginal support is growing in Toronto and across the country.
Amnesty International is engaged. All the major environmental
organizations are engaged. The major trade unions are issuing
statements of support. Momentum is growing for a major rally in Toronto
in May.

A lot of talent, energy and courage are being mobilized in First
Nations by the struggle to free the KI 6.

There is a growing sense of confidence in First Nation communities that
effective organization is not only possible but imperative to make the
change that has been so long in coming.

There is a new sense of political engagement and pride.

What was once a marginal issue is now on the cusp of being mainstream.

Ontario is losing credibility on their claim of a new relationship with
First Nations , and more importantly they are losing because of their
conduct during the events that led up to the KI litgation, the role
they played in litigation and the jailing of the KI6.

Ontario may not have asked for jail but they ran their court imposed
negotiations with KI in a way that inevitably led to the finding of
contempt and jail.

At any time Ontario could have agreed to the KI offer of a pause on the
Platinex project for strategic land use planning. Instead they
stonewalled and relentlessly supported the Platinex drilling project.

They have behaved in way most Canadians reject.
